wildrose Report post Posted July 5, 2011 I've always kept a box set aside with supplies in it for teaching (extra mallets, tools, sponges, etc). I've not taught in a while now, and in my mind somewhere was the thought that there were 10 basic swivel knives in there. As I was straightening things up today, prepping for my classes this weekend and next, I discovered there are only three!!!! So far, I've got 6 students signed up. The class max is 10. I don't mind a certain amount of sharing, but 4 (inc. my own) is really straining things. Of course, this is my not-so-prepared in advance self begging, but if anyone has some low-end/starter swivel knives they'd like to send me (I can't pay for them, so I'm imposing entirely on your generosity), I'd be really ecstatic. Deb59 Report post Posted July 5, 2011 Check with Tandy - Jim LInnell or your Local Shop may be able to work with you on the tools you need. They have been very generous in the past for helping aspiring leatherworkers get started!!
WyomingSlick Report post Posted July 6, 2011 Hi Holly, My hat off to you for teaching kids leathercraft. I will be sending you a care package with some knives and other stuff in the morning. I live in Wyoming so it may take a few days even with priority mail. John Herold
wildrose Report post Posted July 6, 2011 George Hurst from Hidecrafters was AWESOME to us when I volunteered with 4H up in Pennsylvania. This class will be all ages, and I'm looking forward to it. Thank you, Deb, and you too John. I'll let you know when the package gets here :-) I got a call from another board member who's sending me a knife as well. wildrose Report post Posted July 8, 2011 Hi Holly, My hat off to you for teaching kids leathercraft. I will be sending you a care package with some knives and other stuff in the morning. I live in Wyoming so it may take a few days even with priority mail. John Herold May God bless you richly!!! The box arrived today. With your amazing kindness, I will be able to offer more classes in the area, and keep costs low for the students. I'm stunned by what some local artists of other media charge for classes - it's no wonder they don't run, no one can afford to take the class!
wildrose Report post Posted July 12, 2011 I've now gotten THREE packages from the wonderful folks here. Thank you all so much! Got one from the Sherrill residence today, Joe out in Montana sent me a package, and of course the one from Wyoming Slick. I am so fortunate to belong to this terrific group! WinterBear Report post Posted July 15, 2011 Hi wildrose/Holly, Do you have any other needs besides the swivel knives? I also work with youth and might have some stuff I could spare that you could use as well.
