Members WyomingSlick Posted July 12, 2011 Members Report Posted July 12, 2011 A friend passed along the following link to a F.K. Russel Catalog that has been scanned into a pdf. file. http://toolemera.com/catpdf/fullchiselleathertoolscatSec.pdf F.K. Russell was a leathertool maker in Dallas, Texas back in the early part of the last century For those of you who are just interested in the stamping tools and would like to download those pages for referance - I have posted those pages in jpeg. format at my blog page. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?app=blog&module=display§ion=blog&blogid=31 Take a look...............find out what a "sinker" is (something new I learned from the catalog) Quote (John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV) And the truth is that religion is nothing more than the lame attempt by largely ignorant people to bring sense and order to a world that was beyond their comprehension. Once you see religion for the delusional and superstitious artifact it is............... you will be free !

Members steveh Posted December 16, 2012 Members Report Posted December 16, 2012 Thank you for posting the link to the Russel catalog. Very interesting, The quality of the stamps is remarkable. I see in the catalog they refered to backgrounders, bar grounders and bevelers as sinkers. There dot sinker ( bar grounder) is priced at .25 cents, and a rope basket .35 cents . amazing. steve Quote
Members SmokeCigars Posted January 30, 2013 Members Report Posted January 30, 2013 Wow holy inflation! Stamps now are about 25 times the price. Quote
Members shtoink Posted January 30, 2013 Members Report Posted January 30, 2013 With the recent price increase of new stamps at Tandy to 9.99, the inflation is much closer to 40x. That's just insane! Quote
Members PcCowboy Posted June 6, 2013 Members Report Posted June 6, 2013 Very interesting designs. Of all your scans I still don't see the design of the one that I have. Of course it was made by a company in NY that went out of business in the 1930s. Quote We don't just build saddles, we create them.
Members REDTAILHAWK Posted June 6, 2013 Members Report Posted June 6, 2013 PcCowboy, What does your stamp look like? I picked up one a while back of a pineapple. I know it used to be a sign of good luck or whatever, but it is pretty strange Quote

I was wrong about the company Must have been thinking about the company I was looking for who made some conchos I wanted to find. The name on the stamp is: F. K. R. MCH. CO. Dallas TX. Members PcCowboy Posted June 6, 2013 Members Report Posted June 6, 2013 I have been looking for a few years trying to see if someone else has this tool, but haven't found anyone. Wilford Lewis got this from his father when he was young. Will died almost 10 years ago when he was 82. I use this tooling as my signature tooling since I seem to be the only one who can do it.
