Howdy,

I was wondering if anyone here has used their Leather Dyes. I know a well known Holster maker uses them. I'm doing a Shotshell slide & bullet caddy for a gentleman. I tried mixing Feibings to match his rig.So I called the maker & found out he buys his dyes from Angelus. Has anyone used this product?

I have ask on other forums & 60 or so have read it, but no responses. I know 2 well known Holster makers in the USA use Angelus leather dyes. Thank you for responding. I'm going to use one of the ones I bought this week, when they get here. Your right, they have many colors.

Thanks

Yup I agree they are great and do have a nice selection of colors. I picked up some different colors in a leather shop out in NM. P.S. the box the dye comes in is made to be a bottle holder so it doesn't tip over when you are using it.

Murse,

Thanks for the tip. I ordered 2 different colors & mini brushes from Turtle Feathers. I hope I have better luck dyeing these Shotshell slide & Bullet caddy to this buddies Holster rig. I ask the holster manufacture what he used on his rigs & he said Angelus. So here we go. I tried different mixes of Fiebings on scrap leather. I thought I had it right on. NOT So I have an extra set for sale at the club. They turned out extra red.

The next time you try to do some dying , get one of the previal sprayes at tandy and try your hand spraying. I beleive you will like the end results.

And get some diluter/alcohol...Most colors are very colorstrong (loads of pigments) and you might find them getting too dark.

I Love my Angelus dyes :-)

Tina,

I ordered the Dye reducer also.

Luke,

I have a 65psi compressor for airless sprayers mounted in between my loading tables to keep my loading machines clean while reloading. My youngest granddaughter has had a few mistakes on her shotshell presses . She's pure blond. I have 3 airless sprayers. 2 for painting & a small air pencil I think you would call it. These have all been gifts for one thing or another. But I don't know how to use them. Never tried. If I build things ,stamp & hand it off to some one to stain. I would love it. But I'm not very good at staining. I have tried sponges, wool pieces, wool daubers. I can't get it to come out even. I thin it, test it on a scrap piece, sometimes I get lucky. You got to love black dyes.
