First Two Weeks With New Cobra Class 4

Well, This is my First post.....

I have been looking on the site for over a year now. I am The " wanted a holster for myself" turned HOBBY - small business guy......... SNUGHOLSTERS. I have learned almost everything here on this site. Well after reading - reading - reading about sewing machines............and everything else. Another person NOT regretting getting more than needed.

The Cobra Class 4 arrived two weeks ago today ! First of all," EVERY WORD YOU HAVE SAID ABOUT STEVE IS CORRECT" First class all the way. Anyway Love it - love it -love it. Had no sewing experience, prior to two weeks ago. Seems like even I can catch on to this. With the help of this site. Now can sew a curve ..ha ha

I am hoping it is so the wait has been long, at least I think it is, not sure what the standard wait for a ordered machine is, but I am at 14+ almost 15 weeks of waiting.

Last week lacking the Cobra I had to sew an 18'9" length twice at 5 stitches to the inch with a Tippman Boss,I had put this job off and could wait no longer. Anyone want to do the math on how many pulls on that handle it took. This is just one of many ways the long delay getting the machine has effected my shop and production.

I talked to Steve, and (if you are the right Dave) your machine will ship Thursday the First. I think you ordered it July 1. Steve sells those machines as fast as he orders them, and the cycle time is about eight weeks. As I have said before, these dealers put in a days work on most every big stitcher (Cobra 3 or 4 type). That's why you get a machine that runs so well for so long. That is why you want to use a brick and mortar dealer instead of an eBay seller.

Enjoy your new machine.

I am Dave, but I did not order my machine in July, I said almost 15 weeks that is what it will be on 9-2-11 order date on the reciept is 5-20-11 at 10:01:43 AM. that counts up to 15 weeks on my calender. I was only interested in what the normal time frame was as I have done most if not all my major purchases as a go get it pay for it, and haul it home type of thing.

As for Steve and Cobra I think he is a great guy with a good product would buy another machine from him if the need should arise, he has had a run of bad luck timing whatever, getting machines imported.

I did get a message from Steve saying that it would ship on thursday.

Let's not discriminate here - there are a number of honest, hardworking sewing machine dealers on eBay. We personally have been using eBay for 10 years, before most sewing machine companies even had an online presence. Unfortunately there are some undesirable people selling on eBay too but the same goes for anywhere else. Customers need to do their own research, ask the right questions and buy from the right companies.

As for the waiting times discussed in this thread - once again it's up to the customer to shop around and ask dealers if they have a machine in stock or not. Every dealer has their own policies, some will make you wait and some will not.

I put my name on the waiting list for a Cobra 4 just before the July 4th holiday weekend, after talking with Steve about the machine. I was very excited to get one. He said it would be a few weeks, as he was waiting for a shipment. He did give me an estimated date when it was scheduled to arrive, but I knew that date wasn't solid. Over the holiday weekend my A/C unit went out, and in Phoenix, that's not something you can do without. I had to cancel my order with Steve to repair the A/C. Anyway, a couple of days later I received a couple of large (for me) holster orders with payment in advance. Knowing I was not going to hand stitch the orders, and that Steve was weeks away from getting machines, I had to look somewhere else. I called Bob at Toledo Sewing Machines. He had Cowboy 4500's in stock. I ordered one and it was delivered the next week. Took about 2 hours to unload, setup, and start sewing. It has been absolutely perfect. You will enjoy the machine once it arrives. No offense against Steve or any of the other dealers of 441 clones, but in my situation I had to go with the machine that was available to ship almost immediately, or I would have lost business. The circumstances of my purchase changed drastically in just a few days, from it being ok to wait several weeks for a Cobra, to canceling the order for an A/C repair, to absolutely needing a machine asap.

Hello to you all. I would like to tell you about some of the pitfalls in my type of business. I am not ashamed to tell you that I have made a mistake. I am human and I will make more, but not this one. When I place an order with my factory in Shanghai, it takes about 30 days to manufacture the machines. I normally order 40-50 COBRA Class 4's. It then takes about 2 weeks to get here, and another 3-5 days in customs before they get to my warehouse. We then spend 6-8 hours on each machine to make sure that when it ships to the customer, it won't come back to us for a silly problem. In May, I placed an order for 50 Class 4's. We then went to the Sheridan Leather show at the end of May. We sold 22 Class 4's at the show. When I returned, I ordered an additional 50 machines thinking that I will now have 100, and when someone orders one, I will have it in stock. Here is where the problem occured. I did not take into consideration (my fault), that it will now take an additional 30 days to produce the product. Instead of the customer waiting approximately 6 weeks, it is now 10. This is a mistake that I made, and I only made it once. It will not happen again. I now only order 50 at a time. I apologize to everyone that this oversite affected. Thanks for the info Steve. I know I am anxious to get my machine, hopefully it lands in CA soon. We have already communicated about the possible arrival time and I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
