Josiah Report post Posted April 7, 2012 I am curious about this bone. Is it the creaser available from several stores or did you make it yourself? hi, I didn't use swivel knife... I used a bone. A knife shaped and slightly curved peice of bone... It does not cut theleather, it just makes the line... I'll post picture if I find one... cheers, Silk
silkfatblues Report post Posted April 7, 2012 I am curious about this bone. Is it the creaser available from several stores or did you make it yourself? Hi! I'll take a pic of that bone, I have several... It is posible to find them in some shops but you need to shape them to your needs or how you want to use them... so it fits your hand like a custom made tool cheers, Silk

silentghost Report post Posted June 29, 2012 I am curious how you get that roll that runs around the edges of your seat.
silkfatblues Report post Posted July 4, 2012 I am curious how you get that roll that runs around the edges of your seat. hi, to get that edge roll you cut a long peice just like youre making a belt but 2,5cm wide and thinner leather... you aply glue on edges but not on the middle of it.... you stick the edges together and by doing that you get a long lace with a tube like shape on one side... the side that is not tubelike is ment for sewing and you doo that in the oposite way so when you turn the parts inside out you get this tubelike part out.... I'll try making some pics... it is hard explaining this way:) cheers s and another seat

Cyberthrasher Report post Posted July 5, 2012 That might be one of my favorites so far. The contrast of that "lace" just really makes it pop. That, and every time I try doing thin flames or tribal like that I end up cutting too deep so it looks screwy when I tool it out. So, I know how hard it is to get it as crisp and clean as you did here.

So, I know how hard it is to get it as crisp and clean as you did here. thanx mate!! my little secret is - i didn't cut the leather, just stamped as much it was needed to pop out the drawings... seems I was right to supose what would happen if i did cut it... but it took me 4 days of stamping and tooling it... it had to be done ASAP... this one was the most work of all previous seats... The owner wants black laces and we are waiting it to come (ebay)... this red is cool to me to and i would do some more interesting lace patern but i knew i would take it down in a week or two so no point in dooing that... the red lace doesn't go well with the bike colours, that is the most important reason to take it down actualy, so new pics soon best regards, silk
silkfatblues Report post Posted July 18, 2012 I did this one during the weekend... Finaly started using swivel knife for all details... I wanted to keep it all black but the customers wishes are on the first place, right? ) anyway, I like how it turned out... I'll play with graphics more next time, this one was needed ASAP so no time for too much planing and thinking... cheers, Silk

dragonspit Report post Posted August 7, 2012 Somehow I missed this post previously. Your seats are just freakin awesome. youve got me a bit nervous now. I'm getting ready to construct/reconstruct a seat for my gold wing (base seat should be here today). Im afraid it will look more like the hard seat you had to rebuild cuz it was hard, than not. I sew some stuff, but dont have a machine, so my plan is to lace everything. I also plan on accent pieces around the bike to match. but your sewing and your beads looks so nice, I know I wont have anything that looks that good. Im a bit envious. really nice stuff. pics of how you do that bead would be good., I d like to see that.

I'll try making some pics of that bead soon (but lately I have given a lot of promisses and failed to complete, work, work, work..) I have learned a lot on this pages just by looking at peoples work, sometimes copying something and other times just for a motivation, so, I think it should work for everybody like that... I just try and make something that works for me... and another seat is delivered
