MADMAX22 Report post Posted September 18, 2011 Well have not posted anything in a while due to being under water for a little bit so figured I would show the few things I got done before I left. Hopefully will have some more stuff to share in the near future that are a little more interesting. Got a ruger 357lcr for the fiancee and had to make her a holster for it. Quick relatively plane OWB. Stitched this on my new machine, made for a quicker easier process thats for sure. Also made her a nice double layer belt. Figured if she ever wanted to carry for whatever reason she needed a nice belt to do it with. Left the belt natural, oiled and waxed then put it in the sun for a bit. Its plain but I personally think it looks pretty nice. Thinking of doing one for myself. Also made a sheath for my buck and flashlight for work. The design for this needs a little adjustment as the straps tend to want to pull off to the side a little but other then that it help up great. Made this from WandC harness leather. Pretty good tough stuff. Critique and comments welcome as always.
Rayban Report post Posted September 18, 2011 Looks like you're getting along very well with your new machine...very nice finishing on all. You got me all excited with the LCR leather.....I'm picking up a Smith 442 this week and I can't wait to start playing "dress up" with it. A pancake just like the one you built is first on my list. wizard of tragacanth Report post Posted September 19, 2011 Nice work. What kind of machine did you pick up? Looks like you used an oval punch for the holes on your fiancee's belt. I just fininshed a 2" belt with oval holes. It was very difficult for me to get it right. Well, it was my first one and I had trouble keeping the axis of the ovals parallel to the mid-line of the belt. A couple were tilted, so I cased the leather, inserted the punch and twisted them pretty close to where they should have been. Maybe that's a hack fix but it was the only one that I could come up with. I will post a pic of it in my own thread. Nick
MADMAX22 Report post Posted September 19, 2011 Hey Nick I picked up one of the cowboy 4500, works great. On the belt they are just round holes. I think its just the pic that makes them look a little oblong.

markush Report post Posted September 19, 2011 I really like the looks of that knife/light sheath! What color is that and how did you finish it?
MADMAX22 Report post Posted September 19, 2011 I really like the looks of that knife/light sheath! What color is that and how did you finish it? Its just wickett and craig brown harness leather. Well dark brown. The only thing I did was oil it with a light coat then applied some sno-seal, a light coat. The harness leather comes with the top coat pretty much already done. Just finish the edges.

Uh-Oh, it's time to recalibrate my monitor! I thought I was looking at the most gorgeous dark cherry color I had ever seen on a piece of leather and it turns out it's really brown! HaHa Thanks! MADMAX22 Report post Posted September 20, 2011 MADMAX22, How do you like your Cowboy 4500 ? I hope to order one by December. Love it, took a little while to get use to it which wasnt that hard considering it came pretty much ready to go. To be perfectly honest I still think there is something about handstitching considering the looks of it and the precision you can get in certain situations but having this machine has really allowed me to take on tasks that I just normally wouldnt have time for in my current situation.
