Members PHIPPS CRAFTED LEATHER Posted October 4, 2011 Members Report Posted October 4, 2011 Hey everyone, I have only done 1 holster with the reinforcement piece and my question is do I burnish the whole piece before sewing it on the holster body or just on three side then burnish the holster and reinforcement piece together at the mouth of the holster? MADMAX22 Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 I dont do alot of holsters but ones I do with reinforcements I will burnish the 3 sides or however many there are then stitch it on. The last edge you want to burnish when attached to the holster otherwise you wont get a nice neat edge. It will be a double edge or wont look right. Quote

Members particle Posted October 5, 2011 Members Report Posted October 5, 2011 Yep - agreed. And if you are dying your edges too, make sure you dye all the edges prior to assembly, to include the top edge, otherwise it'll be hard to dye later (Avenger holsters are an excellent example). Quote

Sure, now he tells me . I am almost finished with my first avenger and my biggest mistake was not to burnish or dye any of the edges before I glued and stitched the piece that has the tunnel and front reinforcement. OOPS. O well I won't make this mistake again. Too bad there are so many more I get to make Quote
