Members skyout Posted November 23, 2011 Members Report Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) There's another tutorial for a Sailor's Cross by Don Burrhus here: Sailor's Cross tut I made about 300 of these so far, they make great gifts as everyone loves them. Hope you guys like 'em, too! The camouflaged one went w/our nephew to Afghanistan. Edited November 23, 2011 by skyout Quote

Members entiendo Posted November 23, 2011 Members Report Posted November 23, 2011 very nice skyout. I just might try one of those. VERY good instructions skyout! I got tricked around one of the loops the first time, had to pull out a bit, but then watched for it the next time with no trouble. This is what I came up with. I don't know why it's sideways?? very weird. It doesn't show up like that in my photo program or my iphone. Anyway I want to extend the size of the knot and add a pass, let's see if I can figure it out. It seems as thought it is possible. Quote
rcsaddles Posted November 23, 2011 Report Posted November 23, 2011 Very nice to each and every one of you. Tell me,if you would please, how tall and wide is the cross? I am going to have to make some of these and think that over Thanksgiving I may have to soak some rawhide and braid. Helps in the digestion of the turkey and the relaxation with 8 kids in the house. Members skyout Posted November 23, 2011 Members Report Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) Thanks entiendo, I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing one out of roo! Hi Joe, here's a pic with a penny included to give you an idea of the size. Edited November 23, 2011 by skyout Quote
Members entiendo Posted November 23, 2011 Members Report Posted November 23, 2011 I have all different sizes if you are talking about the plaited cross. The size I like best is 4" X 2 3/4", but I think I would like the arms of the cross just a bit smaller, so I'm still experimenting. But skyout's center in some form is the way to go. The traditional center is beautiful, of course, but does have back. The back side didn't really bother me until I made one that was the same all the way around. Skyout, I can't do the cross like you do in roo, it won't hold. It has to be over something permanent. Quote
Members entiendo Posted November 23, 2011 Members Report Posted November 23, 2011 Now we are talking!!! this one is secure enough to be a key chain. Keep in mind it hasn't been finished yet. Quote
Members skyout Posted November 24, 2011 Members Report Posted November 24, 2011 Awesome! I like it a lot. Quote
Members entiendo Posted November 25, 2011 Members Report Posted November 25, 2011 Thank you, and thank you so much for your instructions, I couldn't have done it without your easy to follow cross! I have 4 now. 2 ornaments and 2 key chains. I made the key chains 8 plait and a bit smaller. They are drying now but pictures later. They are really really cool! Quote
