rodeomic Report post Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) I have a request for "arm chaps", to be used by an employee of a local tree company. I know they are sort'a, kind'a, similar to cowboy cuffs, except I believe they would have a thumb hole. This site has never failed me yet, so I hoping someone out there can offer some how to help, patterns, etc. Thanks in advance, Roger Edited October 28, 2011 by rodeomic
BIGGUNDOCTOR Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Does he have an old set that can be use for a pattern?
rodeomic Report post Posted October 30, 2011 Does he have an old set that can be use for a pattern? No, I asked. Short of the commercial brands on the internet, I haven't found a thing. I have a hunch he may just want to order a set from Stihl, or another maker. Thanks for the response.
Bob Blea Report post Posted October 31, 2011 After spending yesterday afternoon cleaning up branches that were knocked down by last week's snowstorm, I can see why something like that would be useful. It was warm enough that we weren't wearing long sleeves, and both my wife and I got our arms scratched up. It would have been nice to have something that strapped over the forearm and covered the the top and outside of the forearm. I wouldn't need it to cover the hands since I had gloves on, but I'm thinking of something using snaps at the wrist and the elbow and only covering the outer parts of the arm. That way it could still breathe on the inside of the arm and not be too hot. Just a though and I've never seen anything like this, but now that I think about it I may have to try making something like this. Bob

rodeomic Report post Posted November 1, 2011 Thanks everbody. I think I'm going to try and modify a cowboy cuff pattern. I made a prototype from heavy construction paper, and I think it can be done. Probably use a lighter leather than I would use for a cuff. Any idea's out there? Thanks again, Roger
ramrod Report post Posted November 1, 2011 pretty neat item. it's like a looong pair of gauntlet gloves - without the fingers. the ones with the zippers are really trick. notice the construction - looks like you would make these from basically a tapered tube with a hole in the side of it for the thumb.
