nikpalmer Report post Posted November 16, 2011 (edited) Hi folks, we are constantly looking for better and better quality of bridle leather for our goods. But i still sit at my desk and take out the Sedgwicks samples and then desperately search the net for a supplier. I guess it's the waxy feel and smell that makes we really want to order this leather. I have contacted Sedgwicks but their single order/single color minimum is too large for us to afford. I know that Seigel seems to be gone. Does anyone know of any supplier that already has or is willing to import Sedgwicks. We are based in Canada but Washington State shipping is fine for us. We are looking for around 10-15 sides or backs. Any info would be appreciated. take care. nik Edited November 16, 2011 by nikpalmer
awharness Report post Posted November 16, 2011 Nik, I would Contact Ken Chapman at booth and Company, He deals in a lot of english leathers from Pittards, and Claytons of chesterfield. CLaytons isnt Sedgewicks but he has shipments coming over from england all the time! He also carries Joseph Dixon tools and a bunch of other random things. He's a great guy, and I am sure if you expressed a NEED for Sedgewicks he has the shipping channels to get it here as cost effectively as anyone! He does take frequent trips to England as well. Tell Ken I sent you and I am sure he will treat you well! try the Claytons, its got a differnt hand then Sedgewicks, but a bit less expensive, true ENGLISH and it has that Smell that is second to none! -Andrew www.awharness.com Hi folks, we are constantly looking for better and better quality of bridle leather for our goods. celticleather Report post Posted November 17, 2011 Another supplier that you might consider is J & F J Baker of Colyton in Devon (http://www.jfjbaker.co.uk/). They are the last tannery in the UK that uses the traditional 12-month oak-tanning process. Although their leather is not cheap it is, in my opinion, just about the best that money can buy! There's a little photo-essay at http://www.bbc.co.uk...ctures-14442109 which explains their tanning process.
