xlr8tn Report post Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) Recently I saw a show called How It's Made and they had a series about leather bands. They mentioned using polyethylene thread. Can someone help me determine the best size thread to use with alligator straps? Is this thread just polyester thread? I have include a pic to help guestimate the size. Thanks, Brent Edited November 26, 2011 by xlr8tn
Leatherimages Report post Posted November 26, 2011 My guess would be 69 maybe 92. Not familiar with polyethylene thread. Try several and see what you like for yourself. Different needle points and thread tension can come into play here, too. Paul
hidepounder Report post Posted November 26, 2011 I'm not sure what size thread that is, but I use 69 and 92 when sewing small items like that. I would probably use 10 to 12 spi. Nylon or polyester would work fine. Hope this helps... Bobby
