Today we dye seats

Recommended Posts

These will be getting their final dye job today. The seat on the far left actually has a dark brown kangaroo lace while the other two are black.

I'll add a few pics when done.

Jeez, Dave. You work faster than most people can think or type! :notworthy:

Great job, as usual. I always enjoy seeing your seats. Love the dying and envy the lacing.

Well, I wasn't with Darryl, but I was out fishin' too. Very nice work as usual, Dave. One question- what's the lacing on the nose of the seat all about? Decorative? Or does it serve a function?

I like them all but i love the coloring of the one in the middle.

A few Q's ;

1 - is it just the angle or is the black one a tad smaller ?

2 - The stitching on the nose, it's looped over at the top but not the bottom. Is this for a reason or just to make some freak think " hmmm" ??

3 - What's for dinner ? I'm getting hungry.

Purely decoration.

Must be the angle...all three are identical

stitching on the nose....try looping over at the top and then lacing to the bottom... you can't loop the bottom also without ending up with a mess.

dinner....burgers with swiss on the grill ... grill toasted buns...busch's baked beans....cottage cheese salad.....yum

They are all so very nice. Love the skull design. As usual I'm gonna pick a fav and this time it was easy, the middle one. It got the best of the other two. More black than the lighter one and a good "spotlighted" area for the oh so nice tooling job.

Bravo!

Hey guy,The effect was achieved with an airbrush and spirit dye. The edge of the seat was sprayed with black, then dark brown, then saddle tan and finally buckskin. When dry the entire seat was antiqued with Fiebings sheridan antiquing paste. That's about it.Any questions, just ask.David Theobald

Troy,Believe me when I say your first seat is way better than my first one. I was fortunate in immediately getting orders that kept me working and improving....The secret is just doing it over and over and over....Dave
