I have just started playing with this. I did one that is 50/50 parafin/bee's wax. You can get parafin wax anywhere that sells canning supplies. I use silicon muffin cups, and heat them in a glass dish in the oven until melted. I have also played around with bee's wax olive oil at about a 50/50 mix. I use this on softer leathers, to stiffen up the edges enough to burnish. I would be intrested in hearing other ways to do this too.

I also did a 50/50 blend of Tandy's Bee's Wax with general paraffin wax. Simply used an aluminum baking tin to melt, gently stir and then poured into Bathroom Dixie Cups. Once hardened, simply peeled the cups apart and had a 3 oz size bar of wax.

I think the mix really would become personal preference to what each person feels works best.

Hope this is of some use :)

Take a slow cooker, . . . turn it on high, . . . put a glass jar with equal WEIGHT parts of beeswax and neatsfoot oil, . . . put enough water in the cooker to float the glass jar, . . . let the wax melt into the oil, which won't take over a half hour, . . . mine runs about 12 minutes, . . . you get one of the neatest finishes you will ever find, . . . if you like old fashioned finishes.

It is OK for edging, . . . but I prefer straight beeswax & water.

A wonderful lady whose name I disremember, . . . from this forum, . . . gave me the recipe, . . . and I love it. Did my personal "Old West" single action six rig in it, . . . and am thrilled with the results.

May God bless,

Dwight
