What Size Thread And Needle?

I recently started making leather holsters. I have a Tippmann Boss sewing machine and have been able to make some fairly decent holsters. My question is this, what size needles and thread are most commonly used? I'm using what Tippmann Industries calls a 200 needle and 277 thread. The needle is a Chisel point type. My question is, should I use smaller needles and thread, or should I change to a round point needle. I typically fabricate my holsters from two pieces of 9 oz leather. Any thought would be appreciated.

There is a little table here that covers thread and appropriate needle sizes.

As to needle point, a round point doesn't cut through leather properly, a chisel point or a D point would be better.

Your needle and thread sizes are appropriate, some like the 346 thread better, for which you would use a 230 (Singer 26) needle.
