Members Butch Posted December 19, 2011 Members Report Posted December 19, 2011 Just curious what type of finish you might be using for belts that are dyed partially black or have letters that are dyed black. I've previously used black leather paint and noticed that it has a tendency to come off or peel. I don't want the dye to bleed out and run into the natural leather. I've also used Saddle LAC and Leather Sheen, but I'd like to know if there is something out there that is better as a finish. Thank you very much, Butch Quote
Members TOM123 Posted December 19, 2011 Members Report Posted December 19, 2011 I use Fiebing's Acrylis Resolene. start with a damp sponge (makeup sponge from the dollar store) and diluted down Resoline, rub it on the belt, watch for unevenness if you do get any use a clean damp sponge to smooth it out again, practice on some scrape first. Members Mojo66 Posted December 20, 2011 Members Report Posted December 20, 2011 I usually go over the dye with either Resolene or Super Sheen, just "paint" the lettering with it. Never had a problem with the colour coming off. Quote
