Members Jbarv Bulls Posted January 13, 2012 Members Report Posted January 13, 2012 I was wondering if anyone knows why the standard length of stamping tools seems to be 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 inches? What would be the downside of tools with say 5 to 6 inch stems? Quote
Contributing Member Ferg Posted January 13, 2012 Contributing Member Report Posted January 13, 2012 Only reason I can think of for not having them any longer than 4 1/2" , Cumbersome to hold and strike. ferg I was wondering if anyone knows why the standard length of stamping tools seems to be 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 inches? Members Slider Posted April 20, 2012 Members Report Posted April 20, 2012 Remember physics s at work here the longer the handle the more amplified any indirect hit will be at the tool end. Quote
Members Jbarv Bulls Posted April 20, 2012 Author Members Report Posted April 20, 2012 I hadnt thought about that .... I had planned to start making some tools with my uncles assistance and his CAM machine ... having problems converting images to correctly in 3D for his machine to use, so it may just be a moot point ...
