mrdabeetle Report post Posted February 4, 2012 My box of scrap is starting to overflow, so my significant other wants me to either use it or get rid of it. Most of the pieces in there are good size for bracelets and chokers, so I figure I'll make a bunch and sell them at the next fair. The thing is, I've never done a choker necklace and don't know the range of neck sizes that I will need for one. Do I make different sizes (Small, Medium, Large) or should I make one adjustable size? I have until monday to start making something out of it, or my precious scrap box will end up on the curb.

I have until monday to start making something out of it, or my precious scrap box will end up on the curb. I make collars and chokers all the time for people and I go with an adjustable size. This is because some people if they gain or lose weight so does their neck. If they have thyroid issues that women can have a bigger neck because of it. Also I get a lot of cross dressers and TG'S looking for collars and chokers and necklaces. Adjustable saves trying to make ones for every size. I also tag them and say fits 13.5 - 16.5. If they want a custom made one then measure their neck and add two inches for buckles and at least another two for expansion. Sylvia Report post Posted April 13, 2012 For the shorter and narrower pieces you might consider making "cord keepers" Make them about 4-8 inches long with a good strong snap. No fuss on artwork, just a little dye and sealer if you want. Sell them 3 for $15... to electricians and musicians all day long. For some short pieces, stamp something on it... punch a hole.... infuse the back of the leather with scented oil. (air freshener) Some pieces can become hair barrettes or "pony tail holders" https://www.leathercraftlibrary.com/p-1191-the-little-pony.aspx Long narrow pointed pieces can be wet formed and glued into beads, wrapped around a pencil to make a long spiral, or riveted together to make a star burst (air freshener) You might also consider some of these for 2D Christmas Ornaments If you feel especially crafty and want to practice some lacing....why not punch holes around each pieces of scrap and patchwork them together using lace. Use these for place mats or trivets. (these would probably demand a higher price.)
