shadowryder Report post Posted February 10, 2012 Well was asked by a buddy to make him a seat for his Honda vt600 bobber, said he wanted real leather with a brown "antique" finish on it so anyway i have made this from the steel pan right thru, It has 2 layers of thin hi density foam with a gel pad fitted between them for a little extra comfort, the leather is veg tan shoulder and i have dyed it with feiblings mid brown and finished it with a clear leather conditioner. sorry if pics are not great had to take them with phone. Whatcha think then.Click on pics to enlarge. JJ
benlilly1 Report post Posted February 11, 2012 Shadowryder, Looks better than the first one you tried... I take it you sewed by hand? Looks like the stitches on the underneath need some attention. It's hard to tell in the photos. I would also make the edge smoother in your next seat since it's open for everyone to see. You'll learn as you go how to improve with each seat. shadowryder Report post Posted February 13, 2012 Yeah it was hand stitched, its what my buddy wanted and i dont have a working machine to do otherwise, with regard to the edges,i agree not brilliant but i had to cut them with a craft knife with hooked blade after stitching up, i can see myself the areas where improvement is needed and i shall endure to work on them, though saying that my friend is very happy with the "rustic" hand finish. thanks for your comments and encouragement, much appreciated. laters JJ
