Doug Strong Report post Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) Hello. I've made many holsters over the years but most are open style. My plan is to make a Model 1881 US cavalry Holster. These had plugged toes. I would like some concrete and specific instructions for how to make one properly. I only do historical leather work so I am not looking for ways to fake this. I have tried searching here and I keep coming up with suggestions for buying this book or buying that video. Perhaps my searches missed some instructions but I cannot find any ones. Can anyone explain how to do it? Thanks in advance! Edited February 18, 2012 by Doug Strong

Doug Strong Report post Posted February 18, 2012 That was clear as a bell. I have learned a lot. I also drooled a lot while looking through the rest of the site. Thanks!
Frank Report post Posted February 20, 2012 The other thing you might want to do that was not explained is to cut 2 toe plugs and glue them flesh to flesh. This adds a lot of beefiness to the plug and is a lot easier to work with in my opinion. Frank
