Hi!

I'm starting to come up with a list of stamping tools I need to buy and I was just wondering what do people use bar grounders for?

Thank you for your help!

Bar grounders are a particular kind of tool used to background. mainly seen in Sheridan style tooling.

Thanks Terry!

Are there any particular reasons to use a bar grounder instead of, say, a checkered background tool?

"Classic" and traditional, but you better practice running it as a bad job looks terrible, especially against a nice tooling job.

Bar grounders make a darker background and they pick up antique better than a checkered background, if you choose to antique. Checkered background tools are easier to use and much faster. Bar grounders take more time to master. They usually come 3 to 5 in a set, and vary a great deal in diameter of the dots. The larger sizes typically are used on larger type flowers on saddles. Smaller ones on smaller type flowers.

Thank you all!

I think I'll stick to checkered backgrounders for now and try the bar grounders some time later whet my tooling has improved and I have some spare cash for a set of new tools!
