Members D Fingers Posted March 10, 2012 Members Report Posted March 10, 2012 Hello all I have been lurking for a couple of weeks and have read 40+ pages of this forum. I have learned so much and really appreciate how freely you guys share your knowledge. I would like to show you guys my 5th holster, which I built for my new G36:) I apologize for the low quality pictures. Quote
Members Colt Hammerless Posted March 10, 2012 Members Report Posted March 10, 2012 That's a very nice holster D Fingers. And those are VERY nice edges! Are you using Bob Park's (aka hidepounder's) method? Colt Hammerless Quote
Members D Fingers Posted March 10, 2012 Author Members Report Posted March 10, 2012 Thanks Colt. I am really happy with the edges myself, but I didn't use the Parks method, I wish I had:( I used a plastic slicker, then some antler boning tool I have, then dyed it. After it had dried I burnished it with a dremel tool w/felt wheel and beeswax, I didn't like the results so later I burnished it w/dremel and gum trag. After all that it looked pretty nice but I had to dye the edge again. Finally when I was finishing the holster I put extra coats of rosolene on the edge. So the whole process was kind of a cluster, but happily the result was good. I have decided that the cant of the holster is to extreme. Quote

The cant is good if you wear it at about 4 oclock, nice job Quote North Star Holsters
Members D Fingers Posted March 11, 2012 Author Members Report Posted March 11, 2012 I gave it that cant for concealability and it does conceal great. The butt of the gun is driven into the love handle, basically disappearing. For me though it is a bit uncomfortable on the hip. Quote
