Hi again guys an gals from aussie .

Would it be classed as sacralidge to use a modelling spoon ball the clean up around the edges of my sheridan carving . I just use it to smooth out a few rough spots .. Does that seem as bit like cheating

Not sure but the guy that taught me the basics of carving told me that an expert isn't a guy who doesn't make mistakes but is the guy who knows how to fix them. I say smooth away :)

Ron......you use anything that you believe will help you feel better about your work. Post some before and after pictures.

I used a lot of modelling spoon to make my carvings look better, but with a bit more experience and better tools this becomes less frequent=)I hope one day I'd be able to tool without the spoon at all, but at the moment its my lifesaver.

Well thank you all for your replies , I don't feel such a dill brain now using the modeller . No worries Sam I'll post up some pics when I get serious .
