PL01 Report post Posted April 5, 2012 It's done. Not quite how I had in my mind, but I think it worked. I wanted to do something different this time but I should have made it larger, it's only 110mm x 110mm or 4.25" x 4.25" in old money. It kept me amused for a few days Still, here it is

PL01 Report post Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) LOL old money!! What tools did you end up using? Forgot about the technical details. Swivel knife A104-2 Background B936 Beveler P236 Pear shader and lots of acrylic paint and glue I stole the artwork from DarkJimbo on DeviantArt Hope he doesn't mind I like all the pieces that is cool! I would have just stained it no paints...but that is me:) My first plan was to stain it, but things got away from me and I got carried away. Next time I'll try harder to stick to the plan, honest Edited April 5, 2012 by PL01
Domino Report post Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) So what do you think? I think my leather better hurry up and arrive before this thread gets filled with great pieces.. Nicely done, though it must have been tough cutting out those shapes with a swivel knife Edited April 5, 2012 by Domino

PL01 Report post Posted April 6, 2012 Nicely done, though it must have been tough cutting out those shapes with a swivel knife I did have pic's of all the steps it took up to cutting it out and painting it, but I managed to delete the lot. Nicely done, though it must have been tough cutting out those shapes with a swivel knife I think you need to reed the rules again:) You can use a lot of other things that are necessary to work the leather to prepare you for the actual work:) A knife if pretty mandatory.... PL01 Report post Posted April 7, 2012 (edited) Nice one Paul. It's like a leather Tiki Mr. Potato Head. Your right, it is close. I originally gave it 'Earthworm Jim' eye's, but SWMBO told me to make them the same. Edited April 7, 2012 by PL01

WScott Report post Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) Ok I am done. Not original artwork, rather copied from Google with mods. My daughter has lain claim to this as a panel for her case -to-be-made-soon. This month's challenge was totally up my alley as we are lucky enough to go to Hawaii for vacations, so there is a bit of a story behind this. Let's see if I can get the photos up without bursting a blood vessel. Inspiration was this from January 2012 Oahu Sorry they won't direct link from my mac, files too big, me too lazy to re-size Edited April 9, 2012 by WScott

My kids inspired me from the Hawaii picture; the background is so colorful, the flowers in Hawaii are wicked cool colors... It ain't a cowboy stain project, gotta be bright IMHO

For a hobbyist, it forces me to do a project outside my comfort zone with a set timeline and the slight pressure of posting it for all to see.
