Feel Bummed Out?

Recommended Posts

So just wondering if anybody feels like I do. Sometimes when I'm done with a project I feel a little bummed that it's over. I mean I really like my end results and feel proud of my work, but I love the process of creating so much I get kind of sad it's over. Weird right? Haha!

Guess that's why I look forward to the next one and get to do it all over again!

Call me crazy,

Andy

Andy I don't think that's crazy. I feel that way sometimes, especially since it usually takes me 14 years to finish one :-) I make mistakes, have to redesign around them, change my mind, lots of things. Most of my stuff is freehand, so it's very easy to make a mistake but also to make it look like it's supposed to be that way. I am a little sad sometimes when I'm finished. Cheryl

Yes. After everything I've done. But not because it's over!

HAHA! Hey no joke! I guess what I initially wrote could be taken as sarcasm (hard to get emotions right in a thread). But I do get a little sad when I'm done. Like I said, I just really like the process of creating. I think this is what motivates me to keep making stuff. I kind of get antsy if I'm not out at my workbench and using my tools.

LOL, we're off in two different directions. I meant you response to the other poster (slow waking up today, forgot already) and you thought I meant your original post. I never thought your original post was sarcasm which is why I answered the way I did because I DO feel that way, and get that same antsy feeling at times. When I'm 'creating' (even if others don't think it's all that :-) I am intense and focused and don't like interruptions. I live alone so that's not usually a problem, but I've cancelled going places, and dr. appts to keep working. There's something about the process that feels almost like a drug. And for some reason it doesn't walk out the door with you away from that process. I can't explain it any better, it's coming out blather but I know what you mean Andy. Cheryl

I don't get bummed out. I get a feeling of satisfaction and then I start thinking about what is next.

The "joke" was that usually when done, for me, the dissapointment isn't from it being over. But, from "I shoulda done this, that would have looked so much better, that really just isn't what I had in my head, dang, I really just ruined this and probably shoulda done it over, wow, that didn't really work out as planned, man I won't do that this that way again, or the best one, this next part is easy... I can't mess this up... crap!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Oh just that? LOL. I do that all the way through to temper the effects of the euphoria of creating. Cheryl

That's the one that gets me every time!! Surprisingly I only have one totally scrapped project in my pile though, but it will make a good strop at a later date.

@Andy: I am feeling that exact way right now, and I just finished a project.

The project looks nice, best I have ever done ... and yet, yeah, bummed out for no good reason.

Heh, I have that once in a while. I usually do a 'Woohoo!' that one is done, and then I look at the next project in line and it all just starts over again hehehe.

no, i don't get bummed out. i try to grasp a sense of accomplishment for what i've done. we're all our own worst critics, so i take the opportunity to relish the completion of the job.....if i can.

if it went really well, i often wish that i could make another, or the person will be inspired to have me make something else for them - while i'm riding that high.
