Members Leather Girl Posted April 18, 2012 Members Report Posted April 18, 2012 If anyone knows where I could find a pattern for a Ruger mag .22 7 inch barrel, I would be very appreciative. I would make my own pattern but the gun and I are not in the same country never mind the same city. Thanks, Randi-Lee Quote

Is your customer looking for a traditional western style holster or the Hollywood fantasy drop loop gunfighter style. If they want traditional I might be able to help as I have some of the Will Gormley pattern packs for traditional style western holsters. Quote

Yes, huge difference between 22 and 44, that is why I rechecked with him. We were discussing 22's etc. probably why I got confused. He is looking for a more traditional style. If you know the names of the packs I might be able to pick it up at Tandy's Thanks, Randi-Lee Quote

Members Josh Ashman Posted April 20, 2012 Members Report Posted April 20, 2012 I've made quite a few western holsters without having the pistol (real or dummy) by having the customer make an outline of the gun per the Al Stohlman holster book and mailing it to me. It wouldn't work for somthing that you wanted tightly molded or boned but typically that's not the case with a western style holster. When I've done this I'll get the outline, make my pattern, build the holster and fit the closest shooter I have into it, a few times I've just had to form the mouth of the holster to what I thought it should look like, then mail it off. I haven't had any come back, although I have walked a few people through wet forming a holster over the phone. Good luck however you decide to proceed. Josh Quote
Members katsass Posted April 20, 2012 Members Report Posted April 20, 2012 (edited) FWIW from the old grumpy guy; Here's a holster which is a copy of a 100 year old one pictured in "Packing Iron". I made the pattern from looking at the picture in the book and modifying to fit a Super Blackhawk, and, for the first time in a long time, I didn't toss the pattern after making it.. If interested contact me. But remember, it a BIG honking holster for a big honking shooter. Mike Edited April 20, 2012 by katsass Quote
