DavidD Report post Posted July 14, 2008 How hard is it to remove a rapid rivet? And what methods do you use? I'm making some armor and I'd like to put it together just to see how it works so I'm wondering if I can do some riveting and undo it later if it doesn't work so well. Thank you. Drac Report post Posted July 14, 2008 I use an awl and hammer. just set the awl tip in the middle of the cap, give it a decent pop with the hammer, then pry off with the awl. if you have an old awl that you can faltten the tip slightly and put a lip on one side of it, that works best. did that to one of mine and very rarely mess up any leather that way. it does happen occasionally, but not often. custom79 Report post Posted July 14, 2008 I use a small, sharp, high-speed bit on my dremel and carefully break it down. Careful! It gets real hot, real quick. C79
