Braiding

Wondering if anyone can help me learn to braid motorcycle levers like the Iron Braid? I am really tring to figure it out but having trouble and a tutorial would be appreciated. Will only be making things for friends post-29124-066054600 1336956631_thumb.jpand not for sale.

From the appearance of some others that I googled. It would appear that most are done with a wide cut lace and then braided with a standard round braid of either 4 strands, and 6 and even up to 8 strands. I think that the tie offs could be covered with a turks head to give it a more completed finish.

Now as for a tutorial on round braids with a core, there are several on the net if one were to google it.

My question also being a newbie who wants to figure this and some other things out... what thickness is best and what is the best type of leather to use??? this is confusing me far more than the braiding itself... sigh :blush:
