SusanC Report post Posted July 19, 2008 Ok, well I was too scared to try the motorcycle seat that I have been thinking about doing for a year, so I figured a bicycle seat was smaller and would be easier... (I think I was wrong about that) Anyway, my hubby wouldn't let me purchase him a new seat, he is pretty frugal and since his still had part of the original vinyl attached, he would never agree to purchase one, so I snook off to the leather room with an extra seat we had on hand and crafted up a new leather one. It is far from perfect, but he must've sort of liked it because it has already found a home on his bike. Feel free to comment.
Storm Report post Posted July 20, 2008 Hi Susan, Nice job on the seat! I also like the water bottle holder. Think hubby needs to take his lady out to dinner. Thanx for sharing. Storm
Tae Report post Posted July 20, 2008 Hey that looks great! Looking at your 1st and 3rd photos, did you use tan lace and dye it all at the end? I think my own bicycle seat needs a cover! (then I might consider doing my motorcycle too =P Tae
SusanC Report post Posted July 21, 2008 Sorry for the late reply, very busy last couple of days. The seat was all done in a heavy veg tan, which was all I had at the moment, the lace is kangaroo in natural. The drink holder lace is some sort of plastic type stuff that the lady at tandy gave me to try when I was in there. She was very generous and gave me a whole box, I don't really like the stuff because it breaks easily, but it was a smallish project, so I figured it would be ok. Atleast the black color hides alot of the imperfections, cause I thought it looked pretty bad beforehand, I even had reservations of it ever being put on a bicycle, but it's on there, so it will probably stay as long as we own the bike or until something drastic happens. I can't complain, he is the cook in the house, so I get dinner every night. Thanks!!!
