golgoth13 Report post Posted May 20, 2012 Hello everybody, My name is Eric from Montpellier, France. I want to do some upholstery for auto/moto, so i'm searching for a walking foot machine. There is this one near to me and at a very affordable price: http://www.leboncoin...828.htm?ca=13_s The problem is it's a double needle, i was searching for single needle, but i would be interested in having double. But will i be able to sew single stiching with this, i mean by removing one needle and/or changing the needle bar
TwinOaks Report post Posted May 20, 2012 Yes, you can remove one needle and still sew with it.
golgoth13 Report post Posted May 20, 2012 Ok thanks. Will the use and the setup of this machine as a single needle will be more difficult for me than a standard single needle? I mean should i sew with it just removing one needle or would it be easier if i change the presser foot and other parts?
TwinOaks Report post Posted May 20, 2012 Unless you need to get nearer than the presser foot will allow, I would not change it. Just remove the needle and thread. If possible, take some of the fabric/leather that you will use and test the machine....both in single AND double needle configuration.
golgoth13 Report post Posted May 28, 2012 Do you think i could use a cording foot or piping foot with this machine when i use it as a single needle?
TwinOaks Report post Posted May 28, 2012 That is outside my realm of experience....so, I'll move this over to the sewing machine forum where some of our resident experts should be able to help you.
CowboyBob Report post Posted May 28, 2012 Eric, Yes,you can sew single needle on a double needle machine,BUT when you want to do upholstery with the welt cord you'll have a problem getting a foot, you can get one special made but it doesn't work as good as a single needle machine with a welt foot.
