anester05 Report post Posted May 25, 2012 After looking at the disaster here what are some things I can do for my next project so I won't ruin it with my new machine. I love my sewing machine I just need to learn how to use it. I figure I need 3/8" edge instead of a 1/4" edge next time. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks Adam

Thanks Adam Yes you may need to make the edge wider especially at the corner it's the worst to sew. Try some Barge cement to hold it together so it can't pull apart when you are trying to sew it together.
Chief31794 Report post Posted May 31, 2012 I know you love your machine, I love mine too. But when I'm putting in a zipper like this on a book cover I will normally hand sew it, much easier to control and you can really make it look great. If that's not your cup of tea then X2 on what Scary said, wider edge and I would slow down and work the corners at a much slower rate. Additionally an edge guide might help if you make sure you stay firm against the edge guide, that would prevent the stitches from running off the edge. Hope this helps, Ken
