As everyone may or may not know, Leatherworker.net is totally a volunteer organization with the cost of the site supported totally by donations. I just wanted to let you know that funds are running low at the moment, so if anyone wants to contribute they can do it in My Controls by going to Options on the left hand side and clicking on Purchase Paid Subscriptions, or just click here.

In a very generous offer Clay B has offered to donate one of his pictures for a draw. Anyone who contributes at least $15.00 by the end of August gets their name put in for a chance to win one of Clay's works of art. (One chance per member only.)

Who's in?

Here is the picture I am donating for this drawing. It's a buffalo skull sticking out of a dirt bank, carved from a photo I took here in the badlands. Silva Fox saw the photo and encouraged me to try my hand at carving it. It's one of my first attempts at carving an original pattern and has some special meaning for me. I hope it will find a good home with one of the supporters of this great forum. So if you can, please chip in so that Johanna doesn't have to dip in to her lunch money to pay the bills here.

I went to send some extra dirham, but cause I'm a paid member, I can't add anything on the subscription page?

"What a catasasttroke" ( in my best Durante imitation).

Then I noticed there is no noticeable Donation Link ANYWHERE prominent, except for subscriptions. By all the powers vested in me, I command you to put up a pencil cup somewhere....lol

In the meantime, somebody post a Paypal address on this topic.

Free Virtual Donuts , AND Coffee Today, to all new subscribers, courtesy of Rocky River Leather Co.... :grouphug5vj5:

( I went to add a coffee, and donut smiley, but couldn't find one...sheesh, I'm havin a hard day.....)

In the old days, Johanna had a link in her personal signature that directed folks to her PayPal page. If she could just post that again, it would be great.

And thanks, Clay, for your generosity. I'll definitely participate! :)

Best, -Alex

The board doesn't remember how much you donated before January 2008. Anyone who was blue for any amount at the time of the crash is blue forever because I am not willing to go back through PayPal and a calendar and old emails and recreate all that stuff. BLEAH! Any Contributing Member can PM me and be entered in the drawing. Some of you have been very generous, and it wouldn't be fair to call on you for more money just to win ClayB's prize.

I don't like standing here holding a tin cup, and I deeply appreciate Clay's gift and the other offers we have had to generate support for the board. The fact is though that it costs money. I have to contract with a reliable webhost and our "Live Chat" feature also has a monthly fee. We have been kicking around plans to upgrade to integrate video clips in posts, and establish a leather topic Wiki for members as a teaching resource. But, the better software costs money, and because many of you go into the shakes when we go offline, I want to make sure the board is stable. I put a donation button on our main page and any amount you can give is going to help. All money donated to this site goes into expenses. Everyone here is a volunteer. Thank you all for you kind support.

The original donut smileys were deleted because ClayB's dog had drool all over them from licking off the icing and it was grossing out the members. The coffee is supposed to be good, so maybe a smiley for that will be available sometime. I wouldn't know because I don't drink it myself. I would if it didn't taste so much like coffee...

Thank you Alex, and EVERYONE else that has supported this forum. It couldn't have grown into what it has become without all the help of so many wonderful, sharing people.

I'm sorry about the doughnuts. I've tried to keep the dog out of them, but well.... he really likes 'em!

For all the benefit that has come from the collection of brilliant artists and craftsmen that frequent this place, it is well worth the donation to keep it going! I love the idea of a wiki. That would be a fantastic resource! Many thanks for all of the hard work and diligence that you guys have put into LWN. It is definitely appreciated!

Sometimes I get mail that just chokes me up, and I know we are doing a good thing here. This board wouldn't be anything without all the wonderful people who participate. All I do is keep the lights on and the coffee fresh. You folks make it all worth it.

Just a reminder that the deadline to get into the drawing for ClayB's prize winning piece is August 30th. So far there are 23 names in the hat, so you still have a good chance to win! You can click "My Controls" then "Purchase Subscription" and use PayPal through the board, or you can use the generic PayPal button on the main page and specify any amount. If you don't like PayPal, you can send a check or MO to

please please include your screen name with off-the-board donations so I can turn you blue.

Thank you everybody for supporting the forum and its mission of education, entertainment and fellowship for leatherworkers. We couldn't do this without your help!

Johanna

:thankyou:
