Blue Pony Report post Posted August 7, 2012 I'm brand new to the world of big boy leatherworking (I made bryer horse tack my entire childhood to scale! LOL but I don't exactly count that) and I'm desperately in need of some reasonably priced tools to get me started. I desperately need a strap cutter, does not have to be pretty.. does not have to be old.. just reasonably priced easy to use (I have very small hands) and ready to go to work. As well I'm looking for : Strap Cutter - need this asap a reasonably priced mallet Concho (rosette) cutters - need leather to go under 1.5in and 1in metal conchos leather straps big enough to cut 3/4in straps and rosettes (these will be used in horse tack so no garment scraps) oblong punch (for 3/4in buckles) spare hardware for 3/4in leather... cart buckles, chicago screws, ect strap end punch (would actually perfer a hand tool instead of a mallet one.. but will consider either) I'm sure there is more things I might need in the future.. but my first projects will be wither straps, and rosettes to go under my custom conchos My budget is very small and my workshop is even smaller.. LOL so I appreciate any help to get a girl started!

Tools cost money but about any hobby does and if you are looking to start a business, you are looking at a sizable outlay.
Northmount Report post Posted August 7, 2012 Strap cutter and mallet are quite cheap at Tandy. See what they have for scraps too. Hopefully there is one in your area. CTG
