Members Curley Fryes Posted October 22, 2012 Members Report Posted October 22, 2012 Is it ok to put antique gel on a bookmark with a sponge? Quote Fast is fine, but accuracy is final.....Wyatt Earp
Members radar67 Posted October 22, 2012 Members Report Posted October 22, 2012 I apply all my antique gels with a sponge. Just make sure you let your block dry before you antique. (if you are using a blocked) Quote
Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted October 23, 2012 Contributing Member Report Posted October 23, 2012 Sponge is fine unless you have a lot of nooks and crannies like you find in Sheridan / Floral carving. If you do have a lot of little places to get the antique, I find that either sheepskin or fake sheepskin (pet dept. in walmart) does very well at getting the antique where it needs to go. Heck, you might be able to use a sponge on those too, but I like the wool better because it's softer. terrymac Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 The woolskin also does a great job of getting the antique back out of the background areas and cuts. I don't think a sponge will work near as well. Another piece of advice if you are using the Ecoflo antiques, don't block or resist with Clearlac, you will get the ugliest colors I have ever seen.
