strudell Report post Posted October 23, 2012 Hello, I am interested in applying the Makers Mark or custom lettering to my leatherwork in hand writing. I was curious if anyone knows of a pen (soldering gun or something?) type tool that would imprint permanent marking onto the leather. Any advice? Thanks, and cheers! Beaverslayer Report post Posted October 23, 2012 Hello strudell, Not sure where you are located, so not sure if this will help. I was at Micheals Craft store yesterday, and they had a woodburning kit there that had an attachment on it that was just like a pen tip. I was going to buy it, but then remembered that when you use it on leather, the smell is horrendous. Anyways, if you have a Micheals Craft store or a Hobby Lobby, they will most likely have this kit. Northmount Report post Posted October 23, 2012 Perfect. Thanks! Cheers! http://www.walnuthollow.com/hottoolsandaccessories.aspx has several woodburning / pyrography tools. The 38283 Creative Versa-tool set at $29.99 has had good reviews in pyrography magazines. It has an adjustable temperature setting. Tom
emmanuelleather Report post Posted October 23, 2012 The tool you are looking for is called a stencil cutter. It cuts through leather like buttah. Yes, you can get one at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Michaels usually has a 40% off coupon in the paper.
