SupersonicF14 Report post Posted October 28, 2012 Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and just starting to try and learn some of the trade. There is so much more to it than I had imagined. I am a retired Naval Officer and recreational alligator hunter. I have some skins getting tanned now. Just 4- and one is from a monster fat 12 footer. I am trying to learn how to do much of the basics myself but what I'm also looking for is to see if anyone is interested in bartering Tanned Alligator (wild Florida alligator legally caught and tagged by me) for some belts, wallets and purses for my immediate family. If bartering isn't advantagous to you than I would like to find someone that will make them for a fair price from the hides I supply. I visit my elderly grandmother up that way quite a bit. The leather is really beautiful when it's done being tanned and surprisingly soft but very durable. It's funny, I took the two different colored samples of leather from my gators and asked folks at work which they liked better.
