LeatherWerks Report post Posted January 5, 2013 I'm looking for a supplier for very high-end hardware, bolt snaps, d-rings and the like. What I'm trying to do is make some really good dog leaches and pet products that you can't get at your local pet store. Does anyone know of a source? Thanks, Steve Nelson
GlenH Report post Posted January 5, 2013 Have you tried Ohio Travel Bag? ohiotravelbag.com Glen
LeatherWerks Report post Posted January 5, 2013 Glen, I actually have looked at Ohio Travel but these items are pretty much 'mainstream'. I'm looking for items used by Louis Vitton or stuff you would see on purses by Dooney Bourke or Coach. I know I can get their specific hardware, but some company makes it. This is the quality I'm looking for. Thanks for your reply, Steve
Beaverslayer Report post Posted January 6, 2013 A member here, from China posted this link the other day in another thread. I checked it out, and they sell all kinds of cool stuff...even looks like you can get Gucci and such logo plates (personally, if you do order from them, don't get any of the "knock-off" logo plates, you'll probably loose your whole order in customs). The only problem I see with them, is a minimum order of 500 pieces. It has been my experience with Chinese suppliers, that f you request a reasonable number of "Samples" they will sell you a smaller amount. spooky Report post Posted January 6, 2013 Try Sprenger - reknowned for their quality in the dog world.
Kevin Report post Posted January 6, 2013 If you're looking for the hardware these companies use, then you are looking for cheap brass plated cast zinc, instead of solid brass. It saves on weight, but doesn't wear that well. You will also find none of these companies will repair their own products or stand behind them. At least that's what my customers tell me. LeatherWerks Report post Posted January 6, 2013 Spooky listed the company Sprenger which is in Germany. I appears that they have the quality I'm looking for. On their web site, it doesn't appear to be any links that would suggest that they would sell to the adverage Joe. Anyone know if they have any sales reps in the United States?
