nokiddin Report post Posted January 10, 2013 I have been looking for some resources on Sheridan style carving so I can hopefully improve in the style. In other forums, people mention the book "Sheridan Style Carving" by Bob Likewise, but I can't seem to find this book when I look around on the web. I do however find a book called "Sheridan Style Carving" by Bill Gardner, Clinton Fay & Bob Likewise. And other books listed as being authored by just Bill and Clinton. Anybody know if these are all the same books? Also if there are any good tutorials kickin around on here, can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks for the help! Same book and worth the bucks. It goes into some of the background and history, the tools and why and how they are individually used, and pattern layout and execution. The examples at the back are a study. Bob Park's book is another must-have too.
Mike Craw Report post Posted January 10, 2013 Hey Nokiddin! I second Bruce on Bob Park's book. I have had the Gardner and Fay book for several years, but I was always missing something when I tried to draw patterns. Bob's book cleard up stuff I didn't even realize that I didn't understand. He has a great series on sizing circles and placing them in the layout. It's an outstanding resource. Mike
Sylvia Report post Posted January 17, 2013 I have been looking for some resources on Sheridan style carving so I can hopefully improve in the style. Thanks for the help! Bob Park has a book out. "Creating Western Floral Designs" that is something you should look at. BTW... I've been chastised for calling all western florals "sheridan" lol Maybe the books you seek are not entitled Sheridan? If you contact him here and ask for particulars I'm sure he would be happy to sell you a copy. Also if there are any good tutorials kickin around on here, can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks for the help! Here's a link to the "Bob Likewise book" http://www.oregonleatherco.com/books/sheridan-style-carving-6013-
