To Anyone- Rope Border With A Figure Stamp

Recommended Posts

Is there a "formula" for making a rope edge with a figure beveler i.e. the width in relation to the tool, and, the spacing?

I ask because I made a wallet for someone awhile ago and used the pointed beveler and it came out perfectly like a rope edge. The next time I couldn't get it right and I have been using up a lot of practice leather to get it. It seems that I go up one side and when I flip it, the rope is uneven and there is an overlap no matter where I do the second pass.

I have tried overlapping the "point" exactly in between the pass on the other side, off setting it a little, right across from the first pass, etc. and it isn't smooth at all. I have used different widths and more space between the points etc....

Any suggestions?

Oh....good one. I know that is came up before and it was documented somewhere but I cannot remember where is right now. Let me take a look and see if I can find it again.

I'd be curious about how to do this too. I'm having a hard time visualizing what your describing.
