Members tnawrot2 Posted January 17, 2013 Members Report Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Is this in the Stillwater craiglist for $1,100.00 it was $995.00, the following is from ferdco website. The Pro 440 is designed for the leather industry to be used as a medium weight leather sewing machine, primarily as a tack sewing machine. The Pro 440 has a bottom feed for the feeding mechanism. This means the feed dog under the throat plate is the device that feeds the material. Although the Pro 440R is not a walking foot machine it still has the ability to sew those heavier projects. The Pro 440 is perfect for sewing or repairing leather bridles, halters, breast collars and most saddle work. We do not recommend this machine as the best machine for sewing saddle skirts but there are customers that do sew saddle skirts with this machine. they were $995.00 Edited January 17, 2013 by tnawrot2
Members mototech7 Posted January 18, 2013 Author Members Report Posted January 18, 2013 No he had it on his facebook page but Im not sure if it will do what i need. I have never used a leather sewing machine, I hand stitch everything.
Members Ken Nelson Posted January 19, 2013 Members Report Posted January 19, 2013 It will sew 1/2" +-, , it is a drop feed machine and will mark the bottom of your work. If I were mainly sewing wallets and belts, I would get a table walking foot machine. If I were doing more holsters , tack and saddle repair, I would get something like the Cobra Class 3 or 4.. However, the machine in the pics looks good. Depends on the price.
Members piddler Posted January 20, 2013 Members Report Posted January 20, 2013 Buy it. Old Guy that can't see too well anymore.
Members noeesp Posted February 12, 2013 Members Report Posted February 12, 2013 I have been looking for a machine as well. If you don't decide to buy it, I would be interested. I am in Houston. If you don't mind passing on the lead, if you decide you don't want it.
