Members laspace Posted February 12, 2013 Members Report Posted February 12, 2013 Hi there- I've tried searching the forum for an answer to this questions without success. So I ask you, on this belt how does one bevel the edges/contrast stitch over it? http://www.equusleather.co.uk/index.php/Bridle-Leather-Belts/The-Fillis-Bridle-Leather-Belt/flypage.tpl.html Thanks Quote
Members Jax Posted February 12, 2013 Members Report Posted February 12, 2013 Tthe edge bevelling, dyeing & finishing are all done before stitching, the stitch that goes over the edge is called a "bind over", hope this helps. Quote

She is a he, but other than that everyone's answers are correct so far! I made the belts in question, stitching is the last operation for leatherwork made in the English saddlery style, and of course it needs to be sewn by hand to do it like that, but otherwise pretty straightforward. Hope that helps, Charlie Quote
