Members Randy valensin Posted February 19, 2013 Members Report Posted February 19, 2013 I was just wondering if anyone had an idea of how many 5/8 reins you can get out of a side of harness leather Quote
Members gary Posted February 19, 2013 Members Report Posted February 19, 2013 Most sides have about 20 to 23 inches of useable width. depending on the quality of the leather, not all of it is always suitable for reins. Gary Quote
Members CWR Posted February 19, 2013 Members Report Posted February 19, 2013 I usually only get six or maybe seven sets out of a side. I cut reins only out of the part that has the neck in it. I want the thickness of that neck leather to give the ends some weight. This is also the longest section and you can usually cut them eight feet long. CW Quote
Members Chayne Posted February 7, 2014 Members Report Posted February 7, 2014 just a question I probablly know the answer to already but can you make wateloops out of the belly? I'm thinking it wouldn't be a good idea but wondering Quote
Members carver Posted May 1, 2014 Members Report Posted May 1, 2014 The belly would have to much stretch for water loops . I have pretty good success using it on headstalls for the ear pieces on one and 2 ear work headstalls I also have used it to line[ the side against the horses face] some show headstalls when I use veg tan for the outer surface. But anything that is going to be pulled on or have stress on it, it stretches too much. Quote
