Ken G Report post Posted February 20, 2013 Does anyone know anything about a Singer model 411U967K? I found one for sale not too far from the house however I can not find much information about it online. I emailed the owner and he thinks it is a compound feed walking foot machine. From the mediocre pictures it looks to be in decent shape and seems to be fairly stout. On the plus side it is equipped with a servo motor but on the slightly negative side it is 240 volt. The amperage draw isn't too high so wiring an outlet for it in the house would not be a deal breaker. I am hoping to be able to use the machine for stitching belts and whatever else I can dream up. Any thoughts, good or bad, will be greatly appreciated.
CowboyBob Report post Posted February 21, 2013 This machine has a walking foot,it is better suited for sewing canvas or upholstery than leather. If it's 240 you need to check if it's single or 3-phase,if it's 3-phase you'll have to change the motor or get a convertor which will cost more than a motor because there's electronics in this motor that need a good constant voltage or they get fried. If you want to sew leather it should sew up to 20 oz.I'm almost certain that you might have problems getting parts for this machine too.
Ken G Report post Posted February 21, 2013 Thanks Bob. I re-checked the original ad and he did state it was single phase, he may have edited the ad, I don't remember seeing that last night. Apparently the machine was originally used to make firefighting gear. I live near Cincinnati so before I make any purchases I will see what you have on hand, Toledo isn't that far away.
