Leela Valley Leather Report post Posted March 22, 2013 Hello all! Just wondering if anyone here knows of a source for the Angelus range of dyes in Australia? I've tried contacting http://www.leffler.com.au/ (Angelus' listed supplier) online twice with no response (will call on Monday). If possible I'd like to find a supplier that is at least responsive to enquiries. Thanks in advance. Andrew

Leela Valley Leather Report post Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) try dharma trading company........I ordered from them and they responded fast and shipping is extremely quick. From their International Ordering page "Import Restrictions on International Orders: Due to federal fire regulations, NO FLAMMABLES can be shipped internationally. Unfortunately, this means no solvent based gutta can be shipped. Water based gutta resist is OK. The following countries are those to which we can ship ANY of our products:" Yep, Australia is on their list... And Leffler's online store seems to be DOA today... Leela Valley Leather Report post Posted March 26, 2013 got a reply from Leon at Leffler Leather today Hi Andrew,Sorry but we do not carry Angelus leather dyes, if you know the colours and quantity that you need we could check availability and try to import with our next shipment. We would need to get a quote from Angelus and then a deposit from you if you wish to go forward with this. Regards, Leon. Sent a response asking them to look into it. Leela Valley Leather Report post Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) May have found a temporary solution to the red dye issue. Found these folks that sell aniline dyes in powdered form, I've ordered a small amount of the red spirit soluble dye and we'll see how it goes. http://www.thewoodwo...shop-browse/117 EDIT: no response from Leffler Leather regarding the importation of the Angelus spirit dyes so far. Leela Valley Leather Report post Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) Update: STILL no response at all from The Wood Works... BUT! Found a solution to the problem https://secure.solid...ucts.php?cat=14 The chemical dyes listed on that page may seem expensive but you only need 1 drop per 10ml of metho to get a nice clear red, the blue is around 1 drop per 25ml for a nice bright blue! Once the samples have dried I'll post some pictures with ratios and prep (oxalic acid + deglazer etc) Edited April 26, 2013 by Leela Valley Leather
Leela Valley Leather Report post Posted May 3, 2013 UPDATE: Well the Wood Works order suddenly arrived... More on that later. The following images are from the Solid Solutions concentrated dyes. Got some strange reactions with the red on the vege tan but it seemed to look more normal once the resolene went on... weird...
