Members fattabbyleather Posted June 6, 2013 Members Report Posted June 6, 2013 I've been looking at previous posts on making leather slap jack style saps. I have everything I need except flat spring steel for the handle. What can I use for spring steel that will last? One post said metal packing straps but once they bend they stay bent. Anyone have any ideas for a more resilient material? Quote
Tree Reaper Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) A coil spring might work. (die spring) Edited June 19, 2013 by Tree Reaper Quote
Longview Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 I once made a handle device using 3 or 4 used hack saw blades sewn between layers of leather. It worked quite well. Don Quote
Members BIGGUNDOCTOR Posted June 22, 2013 Members Report Posted June 22, 2013 McMaster Carr carries spring steel in several thicknesses. Look for blue tempered 1095 , or 5160 Quote
