Members ranchmom77 Posted June 28, 2013 Members Report Posted June 28, 2013 Hi all, I'm not getting any answers when I posted on the other forums so I thought I should try here I want to paint a flag on a plain breastcollar to match my daughters shirt for her rodeo princess duties over the 4th.. Question is do I need to deglaze a store bought collar before I can paint on it and then reseal it? Or can I paint right on it and just seal it again? Thank you! Members David8386 Posted June 28, 2013 Members Report Posted June 28, 2013 I am not sure but I would clean it real well and try a piece where it won't be seen and see how the paint works. It all depends on what finish is on it, if it has wax on it that will have to come off. I have painted water based acrylic over saddle lac finish and then sprayed saddle lac over the paint. It came out looking fine but I really don't know how long it will last. Sorry for not being able to give you a definite answer but I have not been doing this long. David Quote
