Grandpa Report post Posted July 9, 2013 I'm pleased with everything but the Elk, the face looks goofy, and the Moose, but only because its on thin leather so it lacks definition. The Longhorn is on med and the trio on thick leather. Time to do 2-3 more elk/deer heads so I can get the shape & shading definition down better. I've lots of room for improvement but one never gets better w/o practice.
All4Christ Report post Posted July 9, 2013 I don't know much about it but for practice pieces those look pretty good.
Mannamal Report post Posted July 10, 2013 Frontal views are hard. The others look great though! The moose does look a bit like he just farted, but he's still a cutie.
pshiflett Report post Posted July 13, 2013 Your images look great. Hang on to those practice pieces, you'd be amazed what some dye and shoe polish can do if you aren't totally happy with the look now. I took a lot of my old practice pieces and learned about construction with them making cases and boxes.
olds cool Report post Posted August 1, 2013 Your own critique is pretty much spot on with anything that I would have said. Maybe a hair blade or something would help bring out the definition in the moose's body?
Grandpa Report post Posted August 1, 2013 I did use one but think I may have been too light on it. It shows in the pic but you have to look close. I'm thinking a bit heavier will add better definition.
