Members Tex Shooter Posted August 19, 2013 Members Report Posted August 19, 2013 I don't use these for leather work, but a good source for spuds is tooth brush handles. -- Tex Quote Tex-Shooter - Winner of the 2003and 2004 Summer Nationals Slingshot Tournament. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Too soon old/too late smart -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “It is better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt” Abraham Lincoln -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My YouTube Channel ----- slingshotbill's channel - YouTube

Members Tex Shooter Posted August 19, 2013 Members Report Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) A spud usually is part of a wrench, but in industry here in the USA any long straight tool used for prying, rubbing or manipulating is sometimes called a spud. Also a potato digger is called a spud. I have also seen the term used in other Industrial applications such as rubbing tape down. Finally, yes we oftentimes call a potato a spud. -- Tex Edited August 19, 2013 by Tex Shooter Quote Tex-Shooter - Winner of the 2003and 2004 Summer Nationals Slingshot Tournament.
Members Matt S Posted August 19, 2013 Members Report Posted August 19, 2013 Spud is also a sort of scraping/prying chisel on a long handle for removing tree bark. Quote

Members WScott Posted August 23, 2013 Members Report Posted August 23, 2013 Use a kitchen fork to mark the spacing in your stitching line....easier to keep in a gouged line than a wheel Quote
