Members DS STRAPS Posted August 12, 2013 Members Report Posted August 12, 2013 Just wondering how long a skiver blade should last, it only seem like I am only abel to complete one whole watch strap before the blade no longer cuts smoothly. Is there a better blade out there that last longer or is there a way to get more life out of these blades? Quote
Contributing Member Ferg Posted August 12, 2013 Contributing Member Report Posted August 12, 2013 Explain what skiver you are using. Strop the blade and keep doing that every once in awhile. ferg Quote
Cobra Steve Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Hello DS. The blade should last according to how much it is being used. There should be a built in knife sharpener that you would use when the knife starts to get dull. I have sold many Skivers over the years and there has been only one time that I had to send a replacement blade. Steve Quote
Members DS STRAPS Posted August 14, 2013 Author Members Report Posted August 14, 2013 I use a super skiver that uses replacement blades, is there a more durable skiver or should I be using the knife style skiver? Quote

Members tnawrot2 Posted August 14, 2013 Members Report Posted August 14, 2013 No, granite will dull your blades as fast as you skive. Quote
Contributing Member Ferg Posted August 14, 2013 Contributing Member Report Posted August 14, 2013 Get a good knife skiver. You will throw the "Quickies" away after you learn to use the knife. ferg Quote
