Wannabe braider Report post Posted August 13, 2013 Hi, I was wondering if someone out there might be able to help me? I am trying to make an 8 strand square braid mecate out of paracord. I am using 550 paracord and am concerned the cord is too thin. When I started to make it, it came out less than 1/2" thick. I was hoping for closer to 5/8". I am thinking about adding a core to it, but I am worried that if I do, that it won't come out square anymore. Anyone have any input on this? Thanks, Jessica
HCRider Report post Posted August 15, 2013 hi, I am new to this forum but I think you should post this question in the Braiding section. It may get more attention in that section.
bucksnort Report post Posted August 20, 2013 Jessica, You might consider going to 12 strands instead of 8. 12 square is the same braid, but under 3 over 3 instead of under 2 over 2. If you use a core it won't be square. Buck
