fgabesz Report post Posted August 25, 2013 no sewing.
TLM2281 Report post Posted August 25, 2013 Because the resolution of the picture is so high I was able to zoom up to 300% and it is quite a strange connection that was used for the seam....Looks really cool but I have a sneaky suspicion that it would be much easier to sew!! I would love to know how it was done though!!
camano ridge Report post Posted August 25, 2013 fgabesz did a great job. The seam actualy is not that difficult. Here is a link on how it is done. Also i believe there was another one posted on these forums a while back. http://search.aol.com/aol/imageDetails?s_it=imageDetails&q=stichless+scandi+sheath&v_t=keyword_rollover&b=image%3Fquery%3Dstichless%2Bscandi%2Bsheath%26s_it%3Dkeyword_rollover%26oreq%3D5e91d1b3a0b3425e870bbbc52750d790&img=http%3A%2F%2Fi274.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fjj260%2Fjuntihko%2FKnives%2FStitchless%2520Sheath%2520Mk1%2FsP032Kopio.jpg&host=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.britishblades.com%2Fforums%2Fshowthread.php%3F123804-Stitchless-Scandi-Sheath-Mk-1&width=112&height=90&thumbUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fimages-partners-tbn.google.com%2Fimages%3Fq%3Dtbn%3AANd9GcSqrU5XDte97rRXQ4qL5wzqbLfQ8Bhzjr5AHY97X-RoDACRfByB90MU0Q&imgWidth=768&imgHeight=615&imgSize=40673&imgTitle=stichless+scandi+sheath

Razz Report post Posted August 26, 2013 Nice design love it, sheath is deceiving as to the shape of the blade....was wondering from first pic how the blade came out seeing the small handle on the sheath...lol. Very nice work.
silverwingit Report post Posted August 26, 2013 One word: Stunning! I like your execution of the stitchless seam, but I'm really intrigued by the beautiful molding. Can you share some details about how you managed that? I imagine that you must have carved a wooden last, connected all the elements of the seam and then forced the closed, wet leather onto the form. Then somehow you managed to remove the dry, molded leather from the form. Very well done! I am also liking the texture of the leather. Did you use textured leather or did you apply it yourself? If so, would you mind giving us a few hints as to how? Thanks for sharing, Michelle
fgabesz Report post Posted August 27, 2013 Sorry, my English is poor, but I'll try to explain. First step, I made a wooden sheath. After that, I made a very, very accurate pattern. Then the wet skin, the half of length of the tabs linkage and put it in a wooden sheath. Then I finished the linkage, and I put the knife in the sheath. Finally, bone knife formatted pattern. silverwingit Report post Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) fgabesz, thank you for your kind reply. Your English is far, far better than my magyar nyelv! I understand your description. Lots of very exacting work! Warm regards, Michelle Edited August 27, 2013 by silverwingit
